Our latest book the BACKHAND SOLUTION is available now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFD1646T?... Order your copy NOW! In today's session, we explain the four essential fundamentals that are required to take your volley to the next level. As always our training is based on science, here is a breakdown of the biomechanics of the volley. Stance and Positioning: Your stance is crucial as you set up for a successful volley. Adopt a split stance, placing your non-dominant foot slightly forward. This will allow you to transfer your weight efficiently and make quick lateral movements. Racket Preparation: Bring the racket head up and slightly back as the ball approaches, positioning it above your waist. Your non-dominant hand should support the racket, while your eyes focus intently on both the ball and your opponent's movements. Timing and Footwork: Your footwork is key to positioning your body optimally for the volley. Time your steps carefully to reach the ball at the perfect distance. Begin with a small initial step, followed by a larger step with your dominant foot, enabling you to move forward and meet the ball in front of your body. Contact and Swing: Execute a concise swing motion for the volley, prioritizing control and placement over power. Make contact with the ball slightly ahead of your body and at a comfortable height. Keep your wrist firm yet flexible, allowing for subtle adjustments in racket angle and positioning. Transfer of Momentum: The success of your volleys hinges on effectively transferring momentum from your body to the racket, and ultimately to the ball. Push off your back foot and initiate rotation of your hips and shoulders as you extend your arm to make contact. Follow-Through: Keep in mind that the follow-through for a volley is shorter compared to groundstrokes. After making contact, continue your racket's motion in the direction of the shot, while maintaining a balanced posture. The follow-through is more compact in this stroke. Anticipation and Reaction: An essential aspect of successful volleys is anticipating your opponent's shot trajectory. Develop quick reaction times to adjust your positioning on the fly and be prepared to execute the volley. Visual Focus and Concentration: Maintain unwavering focus on the ball and your opponent. This is critical for tracking the ball's movement and making split-second decisions about shot placement and timing. Muscular Engagement: Enlist muscles throughout your body to execute a proper tennis volley. Your legs provide stability and power through the push-off, your core muscles aid in rotation and balance, and the muscles in your arm control the racket and make solid contact with the ball. https://www.oneminutetennis.com WhatsApp +34662501099 e-mail oneminutetennis@gmail.com Follow One Minute Tennis at Facebook: / oneminutetennis
