Mystery Solved! Replacing the Motor on a Philips CDM-4/19 Mechanism to Fix Rotel RCD-855 CD player

The Philips CDM-4/19 is the mechanism used in many vintage CD players, including the Arcam Alpha, Ariston, Cary Audio Design CAD-855, Dual CD 5150 RC, Kinergetics Research KCD-20, Magnavox CDB582 and CDB630, Marantz CD-40, CD-50, CD-60, and CD883, McCormack Prism II, Mod Squad Prism II, Orelle CD-160, Philips CD-60, CD380, CD480, CD581, CD582, CD584, CD620, CD630, CD820, CD830, and CD875, Proton AC-620, Rotel RCD-855, and Sansui CD-X211E. More generally, different versions of the CDM-4 were used in many other players. In this video, I show how to remove and reinstall the spindle motor on the CDM-4/19 in a Rotel RCD-855. In this player, the three screws attaching the motor to the mechanism had come loose completely. In this case, the necessary tools were a piece of paper to make a shim, a Torx TR6 screwdriver, a spring-loaded center punch, and a long, thin, flat-headed tack. For a motor that's still attached, a couple of 5-in-1 tools, or something else to support the platform/platter/plate, would also be needed.
