200th Sub Special - Sydney Bus Museum - 2007 - Mercedes 0305/PMC Mark 2

2007 is seen between Huntleys point and Town Hall operating a SBM shuttle during Government Bus Day. 2007 entered service between 1978-80 as a part of a very large order of buses which apparently 551 of these were ordered. The Mark 2 is a lot different the Mark 1 where key differences includes push button instead of pull cord stop bells, perforated ceiling lining to reduce noise and luggage racks. I believe these were the first type of STA bus without longitudinal seating over the rear wheels where all the seats face forward. These were one of the longest serving types of buses in the STA fleet with the last to retire on 28th August 2008 which 2345 did the honors of being the last 0305 Mark 2 to operate route service. Following retirement many were bought by operators such as Veolia Transport and Telfords. These were replaced by the B12BLE Euro 3 and 0500LE CNGs. I like how this still retains the adverts that were applied in 2004. As you may hear this has rather loud hubs and I find it odd that the pole on the left in front of me has two stop buttons. I used to hate these when I was a kid as they were loud, had uncomfortable seats and were hot especially when riding them in the summer. I always hoped that an Orana or B12BLE Euro 3 would show up.
