Placer County detective spots hidden camera near Auburn home

A detective with the Placer County Sheriff's Office found a hidden camera, leading the agency to believe that discovering the device may have prevented a home burglary. "This discovery is significant because it marks the first known case of this type of surveillance equipment being located in Placer County," the sheriff's office said in a Tuesday news release. The detective was following up on a separate investigation on Dec. 19 at a home in North Auburn when they spotted the camera, which was disguised with fake leaves to blend into nearby bushes, the sheriff's office said.
