Preparing for football trials in two months is the perfect window. It’s long enough to significantly improve your engine (stamina) and sharpness, but short enough that you need to be disciplined. Scouts aren't just looking for the best player; they are looking for the most "coachable" player with the highest work rate and game intelligence. 📅 The 8-Week Master Plan Phase 1: Weeks 1–4 (The Engine & Foundation) Focus on building a "match engine" so you aren't gasping for air by the 60th minute. Conditioning: 3 sessions/week. Use Interval Training (e.g., sprint for 30 seconds, jog for 30 seconds) for 20 minutes. This mimics the stop-start nature of football better than long distance running. Technical: 4 sessions/week. Focus on Ball Mastery. 1,000 touches a day—juggling, fast feet through cones, and "wall ball" (passing against a wall and receiving with both feet). Strength: 2 sessions/week. Focus on "functional" strength: Lunges, squats, and core (planks). Phase 2: Weeks 5–7 (Sharpness & Intensity) Shift from volume to speed. You want to be "explosive." Agility: Incorporate ladder drills and "shuttle runs." Scouts look for how quickly you can change direction. Position-Specific Drills: Strikers: Finishing with 1 or 2 touches. Midfielders: Long-range passing and scanning (looking over your shoulder before receiving). Defenders: 1v1 jockeying and aerial headers. Match Play: Try to play at least one high-intensity pick-up game or 11v11 match per week to keep your "game eye" sharp. Phase 3: Week 8 (The Taper) Don't overtrain. You want fresh legs. Light Work: Short, sharp technical drills. Mental Prep: Visualize successful plays. Rest: Ensure 8–9 hours of sleep. #trials #football #coaching #training #selection #youthdevelopment #indianfootball #minervafootball
