Did you know that a shirt can be made in 7 minutes or in two-and-a-half hours? Slow tailoring is a capsule collection coming from the merging of the fresh take on male elegance by Fabio Attanasio -- a young tailoring enthusiast -- and the fifty-year expertise of Santillo 1970 -- the three-generation artisanal atelier of shirt makers. After obtaining a successful following with his blog, The Bespoke Dudes, Fabio is now considered to be the first Italian writing in depth about artisanal ateliers to the public on the web. Our mission: to defend the "Made in Italy" brand and foster the rebirth of Italians' interest in Italian products—which are entirely designed and made in Italy in the hands of highly skilled artisans. Why Slow Tailoring? We want to encourage a return to the times when people appreciated the pleasure of owning a garment that lasted their lives. However, we aim to do this according to the needs of everyday life, matching the comfort and fast-paced nature of the ready-to-wear garments which are available on-line with all the charm of the "Made in Italy" brand. It is an ironic, young and passionate response to the excess of off-the-peg products, designed to last no longer than a season. The true sartoria, needs the physical presence of the tailor and the customer in the same place. With Slow Tailoring we overcome this barrier, by offering a RTW product, which is only distinguished by the collar size, but still keeps all the charm of Italian modern craftsmanship, as it is made according to the rules of the best tailoring traditions in the world. Rather than replacing the traditional concept of the sartoria, we aim to become an ethical alternative to the misrepresentations about the "Made in Italy" brand, which are often made in the clothing industry. Four shirt models: two chambray, one cotton and one cotton/cashmere blend from the best Italian cotton mills, such as Albini and Testa. All of the shirts of the capsule are hand-cut and hand-stitched: the arm opening is embroidered with the so-called "punto a barchetta" (literally, "boat-shaped stitch"), the buttons are sewn using the crow's foot technique, while the mouche strengthens the side seam, which is stitched using the so-called "English felling". The neckband is cut so that the collar stays up even when the shirt is worn without a tie, while the buttonholes are manufactured with a machine from the 1950's, thus ensuring the highest definition and precision. With horn, wooden or mother-of-pearl buttons, these shirts are designed for the contemporary gentleman's leisure time, the connoisseur and, at the same time, those that love hand-made and the "Made in Italy" brand.
