The panel of nurses from across Canada within their respective fields will provide an introduction and background to the newly established ‘Nursing Network’ and discuss key strategies that are making a difference in today’s health care system with a focus on Innovation, New Developments/Key Trends and Opportunities. This webinar will set the stage for the ‘Nursing Network Breakfast Symposium’ at CAPHC’s Annual Conference in Calgary. Presenters Nancy Lefebre RN, BScN, MScN, CHE, EXTRA Fellow, FCCHSE Chief Clinical Executive and Senior Vice President Knowledge & Practice at Saint Elizabeth. In this role she is leading the creation and transfer of wisdom throughout Saint Elizabeth Health Care. Nancy is passionate about creating a healthy work environment that enables academic practice and advances quality care for all. Nancy has more than 25 years of experience in the North American health care sector, with a focus on community care, from front-line practice to management, as well as the development of new business and clinical leadership. Jocelyn Vine RN, MHS, CHE Jocelyn is the Vice President of Patient Care at IWK Health Centre, the tertiary pediatric and women’s centre for the Maritimes, and has worked at the IWK for the past 15 years. Jocelyn has worked in various health care settings, including the private sector. She has a strong interest in active engagement of patients and families as health team members, quality and patient safety, inter-professional practice, and evidence-based organizational decision-making. Denise Harrison Dr. Harrison is the Chair in Nursing Care of Children, Youth and Families, CHEO; Assistant Professor, University of Ottawa, School of Nursing; Honorary Research Fellow at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute; and an Honorary Senior Fellow at The University of Melbourne. Dr. Harrison’s research began as a single clinical question: “How can we reduce pain during painful procedures in sick babies?” This question arose from working for many years in neonatal intensive care. Dr. Harrison completed a PhD in Melbourne, Australia and a post-doctoral research fellowship in Toronto. She has published more than 30 papers and delivered over 100 presentations focusing on pain management in infants and children. Dr. Harrison’s program of research focuses on effectiveness and use of pain management strategies in children, from sick newborn infants up to school-aged children. Pam Hubley Pam Hubley is the Chief of Professional Practice & Nursing at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada and an Adjunct Professor in the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She has been a nurse for 25 years. She has a keen interest in children’s health, family systems, and professional practice learning environments that foster innovation through highly effective team collaboration and new models of care. Margot Latimer Dr. Latimer completed a PhD from McGill University (2006) and a post doctorate from Laval University (2010) in neuroscience. She has held clinical roles at the IWK since beginning her nursing practice in 1989 and these have inspired her research endeavours, which focus on the professional and contextual factors that enhance clinician's use of evidence with the goal of reducing children’s pain experiences. Pat Elliott-Miller, RN, BScN, MScN Vice-President, Patient-Centred Care and Chief Nursing Executive Pat Elliot-Miller has over 30 years of experience in health care – both in community and hospital settings. She has held a variety of positions from staff nurse, educator, manager and senior nurse leader. Throughout her career, Pat has been involved at regional, provincial and national forums addressing professional nursing practice issues. In her commitment to education and research, Pat has been a guest lecturer at the University of Ottawa. Since 2003, she has held the position of Vice-President Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
