How to make a clay Incense Holder in the shape of a wonky little house with a smoking chimney

We have a thing for wonky little houses! And we love lighting incense to make our home smell divine. So, we made this little DIY Wonky Clay House, to burn incense in, with a smoking chimney! It adds a charming note to our morning ritual of lighting incense. It's really nice and calming to watch the sweet-smelling incense smoke come out in wasps and curls from the chimney of the little house. Hope you enjoy making this one. We didn't want a perfect angular house with sharp edges, but more of a hand-made artefact that adds to that warm cosy feeling. So we didn't use a template and went free-hand... getting our hands dirty with clay and just playing around with it is so satisfying! Follow these instructions for making your own incense burner from air-drying clay. YOU WILL NEED: Air drying clay: We have used Fevicryl Mouldit. You can use any brand you have available near you. A plastic sheet to work on A small plastic box Knife Acrylic Paints Incense cones Instructions: 1. Start by preparing your Air Drying Clay. 2. Knead a small ball of clay and flatten it to a thickness of about 8 mm. 3. Give it shape with your fingers and a knife, to make one wall of the house. 4. Use the knife to cut a window shape out and smoothen the edges. 5. In a similar way, make the second wall of the house, with a door cut out. 6. Make 2 more walls, just like the first and second wall. Leave them aside, to become a little dry and hard. 7. Make a base for the house. We made it an organic roundish shape, to look like a patch of lawn. 8. Make 2 rectangular pieces for the roof. 9. Place the roof pieces onto the edge of any plastic box, and join the pieces on the edge. 10. Cut a hole for the chimney. 11. Make a chimney wall and stick it to the roof. Make sure the hole stays open. 12. Before the walls are fully dry and hard, stick them together. 13. Attach the roof on top of the walls of the house. 14. Add details like little bushes on lawn base. 15. Let the house and base dry completely. 16. Use acrylic paints to add colour to your little house. 17. If you like, you can add gold highlights, too. 18. Your house-shaped incense holder is ready! Use it to burn incense cones, and watch the smoke curl from the chimney! Did you like this video?
