Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Special Thanks to Talantduolingo :) Yeils! Man nemu se Andy. Veive to lebe? Hello! My name is Andy. How are you? Let's talk about the Crimean Gothic Language. Crimean Gothic Language: Crimean Gothic was a now-extinct East Germanic language spoken by the Gothic communities in Crimea until at least the 18th century. It was the last known descendant of the Gothic language, which had once been widely spoken across large parts of Europe. Unlike the better-documented Visigothic and Ostrogothic dialects, Crimean Gothic was only sparsely recorded, with a handful of words and phrases preserved in the works of 16th-century scholars. Its vocabulary and phonology suggest influences from surrounding languages, including Greek, Turkic, and Slavic, reflecting the region’s complex linguistic history. Crimean Gothic People & Culture: The Crimean Goths were a remnant of the larger Gothic tribes that migrated into the Black Sea region during late antiquity. While the majority of Goths assimilated into other cultures after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Crimean Goths persisted as an isolated community, maintaining their language and traditions for centuries. They lived primarily in the mountainous regions of Crimea, engaging in agriculture, trade, and military service under Byzantine and later Tatar rule. Their culture was a blend of Germanic, Byzantine, and local Crimean influences, reflecting their long coexistence with Greek, Kipchak, and Slavic populations. By the early modern period, they had largely assimilated into the surrounding Crimean Tatar and Slavic communities, leading to the eventual disappearance of their distinct identity. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
