In this Shakedown, we take to the skies for a spot of virtual spectating to see what we can learn about driving fast. The WRC loved to show off the Virtual Spectator in the early 2000s because it showed audiences what it actually meant for a driver to lose time in a corner, or the effects of being on the wrong tyres for the surface, or even how consistent a driver was from one year to the next. With Rallyman, we know that a fast turn is likely to be an efficient turn, but that doesn't mean that a slow turn is inefficient. A slow turn might be exactly what you need for a fast turn later on, but how do you know? Can viewing a game of Rallyman in a way we've never seen before allow us to learn anything about how to drive quickly, or is it just something nice to look at? Hopefully the former, obviously. We're here to learn, and what better way to learn than from players better than me? 0:00 Intro 0:58 Rules 1:30 Rally 4:57 Analysis 17:22 Results 17:46 Thoughts SHAKEDOWN is a showcase of Rallyman and the community that makes it what it is. From variant rules to recreated race tracks, from serious strategy to silly situations to find yourself in, I want to highlight anything and everything that makes this game shine, much of it community created content. What would you like to see the most? What aspect of Rallyman hasn't been explored enough? Which circuits are hidden gems? What rules do you insist others try out for themselves? Let me know, and be sure to spread the word about whatever great Rallyman content you find on your travels. Rally 6 SS2 can be found in the Rallyman: DIRT rulebook, or on Board Game Arena (https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?..., where the game is in Beta testing. If you do venture onto the Internet to go rallying, do remember to report all the bugs you find - the more that are fixed before launch, the more of your friends might actually want to try a spot of rallying.
