Gavin's LC Holden Torana Interview with Aussie Garage

On Today’s episode we are here to interview Gavin about his LC Holden Torana S that he brought in 2019 during Covid peck time through a friend. He got the Torana as you see it now but with some mechanical modifications only. The LC Holden Torana has a nice patina look on the bonnet and the side of the vehicle that has all the original paint and has never been modified or repaired. Gavin’s passion for cars has also been there starting from the matchbox cars and then getting his license at 17 years old, he has always had a modified car in stables at home to cruise around in. Gavin is the six owner of the LC Holden Torana and the vehicle was first brought new by a gentleman in Tuart Hill from Shacks Holden in Fremantle, which was then passed down to his grand daughter after his passing. From there it went through a couple of owners before Gavin’s Friend brought the vehicle unlicensed. He got it back on the road and then sold it to Gavin. Now, at the time, Gavin was chasing a four cylinder Steel bumper vehicle due to is budget, but his friend said he would give him a deal on this Torana. So, he thought about it and then brought the LC Holden. Now a lot of people have asked Gavin if he is going to restore the LC Holden, but he has no intention of doing that. He stated, “The vehicle is only original once and never again. I want to leave it as is”. Gavin has the original engine on a stand in the garage because it’s numbers correct as per Holden Historical Service and the paperwork. However, at present he is running a 202 engine that has been modified. He has used a 202 Blue Engine bottom end with a Red Engine top end that has boring out 60 thousand, which makes it around 208 engine. Its running a 390 Holley 4-barrel carby with original stock driveline for the rest of the LC Torana. It has pacemaker Extractors with a mild exhaust system as well. The Interior of the LC Torana is like steeping back in time with all original seats, door cards and dash. He has only added a few gauges to the vehicle for Temp and Oil to monitor the engines performance, however, he wants to make sure the gauges could be removed with out damaging the interior just in case he sold the vehicle. On the back window of the LC holden Torana, Gavin got a reproduction sticker from Stick this Decals in South Australia. They do a lot of Holden reproduction stickers for the engine bay area and for Holden Dealers. Gavin had part of the Shacks Holden Sticker on the Torana, so he sent this to Jason at Stick this Decals and he did the rest. Gavin is not sure if it 100% correct from the dealer, but it does look the part on the rear window.
