Long time Burris shooter and living 3 Gun legend Patrick Kelley talks about the different divisions or classes of 3 Gun competition. Open Division - generally without limits placed on optics and configuration of weapons. Tactical Division - more limited with the number of optics you can have on your gun (generally 1 optic on your weapon). Shotguns will be tube fed rather than box or magazine. Handguns will be more standard configuration with 15 or 19 round magazines depending on the shoot's limitations. Limited Division - the most restrictive division is limited to 1x magnification optics. Shotgun and handgun have the same limitations as the Tactical Division. Heavy Metal - larger calibers (like a .308) with fewer rounds, pump shotguns, and a low capacity handgun (10 rounds max) such as a .45 ACP.
