The local architecture and all its buildings make this wonderful village, which has kept its traditional costume and its unique language, a stopover not to be missed. The abundant local life will awaken your curiosity. Several “bridges of wind and rain” and some small theatrical scenes make the village visit very interesting. The surrounding hills offer ever denser exploration possibilities. In addition, the road to get there reveals fantastic landscapes of terraced fields, turquoise waters, and attractive small villages. At the top of the mountain, a small village, Tang’an, allows you to stop to admire the incredible view of the valley bordered by rice fields where Zhaoxing is located. It's a very local place with little to no foreign tourists. Walking in the village, you will discover bridges and towers with traditional architecture and unique charm. The welcoming performance from the Dong people in Zhaoxing is an absolute highlight on a trip to China. The Kam people, officially known in China as Dong people (侗族), are a Kam–Sui people and one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China. They live mostly in eastern Guizhou, western Hunan and northern Guangxi. They are famed for their native-bred Kam Sweet Rice (香禾糯), carpentry skills and unique architecture, in particular a form of covered bridge known as the "wind and rain bridge" (风雨桥). The Kam people call themselves Kam, Geml, Jeml or Gaeml _______________________________________ 0:00 - intro; 0:43 - Hotel; 1:26 - nightly walk in town; 2:33 - Drum tower performances; 3:02 - street food; 3:51 - daytrip to Tang'ancun; 12:36 - Welcoming performance to Zhaoxing; 13:53 - shopping; ________________________________________ Hi, I'm Jonathan Le Blanc.
