Episode 8: In this episode I repair an Aiwa XD-S260 DAT Player. This DAT player was given to me, and I knew it didn't work, but wasn't sure what was really wrong with it. In fact, I had never even really used a DAT player before. First issue was the eject mechanism, which was fixed by replacing the belt. Next issue was intermittent tape drops outs, spooling issues, wind/ rewind issues. All of these ended up being caused by the pogo pins that make contact with the tape and which give the tape player information about the tape position. Cleaning these pins with deoxit fixed the issue right up and now it works great. I learned a lot about DAT players by working on this machine. Hope you enjoy it.
