Tyler, The Creator faces backlash over resurfaced anti-Black posts from his early career The rapper faces renewed criticism after old anti-Black posts and a controversial liked tweet resurface Tyler, The Creator is facing renewed backlash after a series of past anti-Black posts from his early career resurfaced online. The controversy followed his recent tribute to the late Neo-Soul artist D’Angelo, after which his comment section was flooded with racist remarks allegedly from members of his white fan base. Adding to the criticism, Tyler recently liked a post on Xthat sparked debate about his audience. According to Kurrco, the post criticised his fan base for appreciating him while rejecting Black music, stating, “Ni**a has charlie wilson, erykah badu, dj drama etc. collaborations and they still refuse to engage with black art on any meaningful level. very cannibalistic.” This incident reignited discussion about Tyler’s own social media behaviour. Many of the posts in question date back to 2012–2014, when Tyler was in his early twenties. In one resurfaced message from February 2014, he wrote, “I HATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH. WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO FUCKING SEPERATE N***AS STILL. ‘OH, ITS PAYING HOMAGE TO OUR HEROS’ F**K THAT.” Another post from January 2014 referenced his distrust of “random Black dudes,” describing their hair and style in derogatory terms. He added, “THEY LIKE EVERYTHING.” Tyler also joked about Affirmative Action, writing, “Hahahahaha, Some Black Chick Works Here. Affirmative N***a.” In August 2014, amid the Ferguson riots following the police killing of Mike Brown, he commented, “AND BLACK PEOPLE ARE CURRENTLY MAD RIGHT NOW BUT IN 2 WEEKS WILL BE OVER IT CAUSE THEY REALLY DON’T CARE, COOL HASHTAG THO RIGHT?” The resurfaced posts have reignited debate around Tyler’s early online persona and its lasting impact on his public image. While he has not issued an official response, fans noted that some of the offending tweets appear to have been deleted in recent days, suggesting quiet efforts to address the backlash. #TylerTheCreator | #MusicControversy | #CelebrityBacklash | #HipHopNews | #EntertainmentHeadlines Tyler The Creator | Tyler The Creator controversy | resurfaced posts | anti-Black comments | music industry backlash | hip-hop news | celebrity controversy | entertainment headlines | pop culture news | social media reaction | rapper controversy | cultural sensitivity | celebrity accountability | trending music story | entertainment industry news ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep up with the day's top news stories with The Express Tribune's YouTube Channel.
