How to make butter in USA homemade white butter at home Homemade white butter has a very refreshing taste and it can be made with store bought cream. I used whipping cream in this video but whole cream also works well If you have not tried making white butter at home , give it a try. All you need is cream and a device to churn the cream. Recipe- 1. I used a quart size cream container. First step is to warm up the cream and add yogurt culture to it. If you are using store bought yogurt make sure it has live culture in it. 2. Add 1/4 cup yogurt to the warmed up whipping or full cream. Either kind of cream works well to get butter. After adding the yogurt culture to the cream whisk it to make sure yogurt is well mixed with the warm cream 3. Let this mixture sit for 8 hours in a WARM place. If you live in a cold country, you can warm up the oven and set it there. 4. After 8 hours hours you will have yogurt cream now. Means You made the yogurt with full cream. 5. Now you are going to churn this cream with a whisk, a blender or hand blender to churn the butter out. 6. I used a hand device and it took me good10 minutes. With an electric device it could be much faster. 7. Once butter starts floating on top , remove it and add it to 1 cup of cold water. This will help to set the butter. Use this water in your buttermilk which is remaining after fishing out the butter. 8. If you don't want to make the butter right away, you can refrigerate the yogurt cream for up to 3 days. Before making butter make sure to warm it up. Note- adding yogurt to the cream is optional. You can directly churn the cream and get butter. Adding yogurt gives the butter little tang and also added nutrition because yogurt had biorobotics.
