System Insertion Guide - Overshooting Provox® Vega™ and Provox® Vega™ XtraSeal™ | Atos Medical

This video provides a step-by-step guide for healthcare professionals on correctly inserting the Provox Vega and Provox Vega XtraSeal voice prostheses using the Provox Vega insertion system from Atos Medical. Provox Vega voice prostheses are used to restore voice after a laryngectomy. In some cases, like with the Provox Vega XtraSeal, it is necessary to overshoot the prosthesis to ensure proper unfolding in the esophagus. To overshoot the prosthesis, place your thumb and finger on the smooth surface right behind the pistol grip surface. Push the insertion pin forward so the ribbed surface enters the folding tool. This will ensure the flanges are properly unfolded in the esophagus. Next, pull the loading tube and folding tool straight out from the puncture. Grasp the tracheal flange with a non-toothed hemostat and pull and rotate the voice prosthesis into place. Finally, brush the voice prosthesis with the Provox brush, cut the strap while it is still attached to the insertion pin, and remove the insertion pin with the strap.
