HCSB Study Bible

The HCSB Study Bible, in my opinion is best study bible available. For those that love the old NIV and are looking for a new version due to the radical 2011 change of the NIV, the HCSB is ideal. Many churches are going to the ESV which is a great version as well, however still alittle too stiff for me. I originally loved the NIV because it was more readable than the RSV, and although the ESV has improved from the RSV, it is still not as readable as I'd prefer. The HCSB is considered a very accurate traslation, yet is readable as well. Where the ESV is a word for word translation the NIV is a thought for thought translation. The HSCB is both. It tries to maintain a word for word, but for verses where it really makes the readability alittle awkward it will do a thought for thought translation. I was first introduced to the HCSB through the Apologitic Study Bible. The Apologetics Study Bible has 10pt text which is nice and not only 1.5 inches wide wheares the HCSB Study Bible is 2 inches wide. The color scheme however is not has nearly impressive with the Apologetics Bible and it is also not available in the Cowhide Leather. The HCSB Study Bible, as well as being colorful, has some really nice features that the apologetics study bible does not have. The blue lettering for verse numbers, references, study notes, and topical subheads, is great, helps me to find what I'm looking for much quicker. Always liked childrens bibles because of the pictures, so this is great, it has 140 photos as well as great illustrations and 59 maps. What other bible has 59 maps. This bible you can find from $95 - $125 for the Cowhide leather. This bible comes everything from hard cover to imitation leather, to genuine leather, however I really reccomend the Cowhide. It has such a soft feel to it, and the binding really seems more flexible and durable.
