Canon C70 + with and without focal reducer adapter / EF-EOS R 0.71x As you may or may have not noticed, this channel also has some content about cameras. That is just the way it is for now. So in this video we take a look at the differences between using the Canon focal reducer wrongly referred to as a speedbooster (that is the Metabones trademark name for a focal reducer). We are using the Canon 24-70mm II at 24mm, 50mm and 70mm. When using the regular adapter the lens remains at f 2.8 but when the focal reducer is applied we get f 2.0 and we can very clearly see the difference that extra one stop of light makes in the resulting image. We also gain an increased field of view. This is well known, but also leads to rather misguided debates about what we are seeing. But isn’t that just the way we humans behave? I have also seen some complaints about sharpness, and while sharpness is desirable, an image that is too sharp is not necessarily so. What do you think? Also had the camera set to face priority auto focus, so algorithms were deciding where to exactly land in our depth of field / plane of focus. And remember, as is the case with everything, things are not always what they appear to be. Crop factors are relative and lens and sensor size remain the same but yet the changes in the image are real and immediately apparent. Next episode of reading with Robin will be looking at clichés and fishing. Thanks for stopping by, and let me know if you have any questions, whatever they may be. #canon #canonc70 #readingwithrobin
