S2E3 Many breast cancer survivors believe therapy is only for people who are “falling apart.” But the truth is, emotional processing often doesn’t begin until treatment ends — when the appointments stop and the adrenaline wears off. In this episode of Besties with Breasties, Sarah and Beth are joined by licensed professional counselor and cancer survivor Casey Mills of Rising Willow Counseling. Together, they talk openly about the role therapy plays during and after cancer, why so many women experience emotional fallout months or years later, and how stigma keeps patients from getting the support they deserve. Casey explains how fight-or-flight mode can delay emotional reactions, why younger survivors may struggle differently than older patients, and how resilience is built — not assumed. This conversation normalizes therapy as a tool for strength, healing, and long-term quality of life. In This Episode, We Discuss: -Why emotional fallout often happens after treatment ends -The stigma around therapy and mental health -Fight-or-flight mode during cancer treatment -Why younger survivors may struggle more -How resilience is built through support -The mind-body connection in healing -Why asking for help is a strength, not a weakness -When to consider therapy during the cancer journey About Besties with Breasties & Faith Through Fire Faith Through Fire is a 501c3 Non-Profit.
