14 year old thoroughbred mare owners have had for 2 years, and she has been difficult to float the entire time they have had her. The session involves doing ground work outside the float and having her rest near and then inside the float, which took about 45 minutes. Then teaching the owners the ground work and having them load her themselves confidently and consistently took about another 30 minutes. This session wasn't about the time it took to load her, it was about having a system of training that would mean the owners could load their horse consistently. Horses attitude: She is really calm in lots of ways, she is really easy to catch, easy to shoe, will work well in the round yard under saddle, but once she decides she doesn't want to do something she will put up a big fight.
