Welcome to the 25th "Cigar Review," at the Dr. Joe Show! Today, we'll be smoking the Flor de las Antillas by My Father Cigars, specifically, the Toro - Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year. Two years later, I want to see where this cigar stands. Of course, if you know how our episodes work and you know who stands behind the Flor de las Antillas and My Father Cigars, then you also know that we're in for an episode packed with all sorts of information! Over the past 24 episodes, we've been making a lot of connections between all the different people involved in the cigar industry and their brands. This episode will be no different, as we'll be talking about one of the most influential figures in the cigar industry over the past decade, the creator of the Flor de Las Antillas and My Father Cigars - Jose "Don Pepin" Garcia. Chances are, whether you know it or not, you've smoked a cigar blended by Don Pepin. Like many of the other people we've already discussed, Garcia came from Cuba. It's when he came that makes it interesting, but we'll leave that for the episode. Anyway, the knowledge he brought with him has allowed him to create the blends that are the backbone to many of today's most popular brands. Of course, he created his own brands as well, and in 2012, he was given one of the highest honors a cigar can receive - the Number One Cigar of the Year award from Cigar Aficionado. It's gonna be a great episode. In this part, we're going to introduce the Flor de las Antillas and talk briefly about how Nicaraguan cigars were started and how they became so popular, setting the stage for the main character of today's episode, Jose "Don Pepin" Garcia.
