Someday is kind of a story of how life can be a fickle beast. No matter your plans or intentions sometimes everything just gets pulled out from under you and once you pull out of the tailspin you have to re-evaluate where you are and come up with a new game plan. My life has been filled with incredible highs and devastating lows, and for the most part that seems to be everyone’s story to varying degrees. My thing was always to just do a complete pivot and head off in a new direction, scared as hell but excited about the new adventures awaiting as well. Sometimes that was just to throw an overnight bag over my shoulder, pick a direction, and just wander until I found something that felt right. At its core that’s what this song is about, one of those journeys. Before you ask, yes I did end up in a jail in Mexico many many years ago on one of these wandering episodes. Nothing exciting, I was on a beach with some folks I had met and we were singing Scottish Ballads (don’t ask, I have no idea why). Eventually, we were told by the local police force to leave. I cursed at them in French thinking they wouldn’t understand. Apparently French and Spanish are similar enough for them to get the gist of what I was saying. That was a pleasant night.
