Now what are they all about? Well first of all, a normal blister is filled with blister fluid, and that doesn't have any color. But when you have a blood blister, it will be anything from a slight pink, to a really deep red, or even black color. And it's to do with how much blood has entered the blister. So, it's an indication that there's been injury to a slightly deeper level of the skin than normal blisters. There's been that injury, a capillary is injured, and blood leeches into the blister fluid, and mixes with it. Now there are a lot of different ways that you can prevent blood blisters. So that's the good news. It's often a bit more about pressure management, but friction management is still important.
