HEIR, Hardware and Benchmarking w/ Shruthi Gorantala and Wouter Legiest

In this presentation at the FHE.org 2025 Hardware Day special meetup, Shruthi Gorantala (Google) and Wouter Legiest (KU Leuven), present "HEIR, Hardware and Benchmarking". Shruthi Gorantala is the co-founder of Fully Homomorphic Encryption team at Google. She is on the advisory board for fhe.org and is driving standardization of FHE benchmarking with HomomorphicEncryption.org. Previously she worked on large-scale machine learning in Google Assistant and Google Maps. She received her Master's in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on searchable encryption and lattice based cryptography with Nadia Heninger and Brett Hemenway. At the Technology Campus of Ghent, KU Leuven, Wouter Legiest obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Engineering Technology: Electronics and ICT, respectively, in 2018 and 2019. After that, Wouter moved to Leuven to study Engineering Science, where he graduated in 2022. Currently, he is a PhD student at the COSIC Research group, researching hardware accelerators for fully homomorphic encryption, working under the supervision of Ingrid Verbauwhede. Wouter is a contributor to the Google HEIR compiler project, to integrate hardware accelerators.
