We spent the day on an Island Boat Tour at Hundred Islands, Alaminos, Pangasinan, Philippines. My daughter Kristina compared the tour packages online and found that the walk-up prices were highly discounted, which we were pleasantly surprised to see. There is no shortage of boats even through midmorning. We pre-ordered a Seafood Platter, p1200, that arrived “hot” at our last island stop of the tour to complete a terrific day. Squid balls, fish balls, and halo-halo on Governor’s Island. Here we had the convenience of restrooms to change into swimming gear, snorkeling, and beachside vendors with island favorite snacks. Fresh and delicious! The beach was lined with net bags full of live crabs and other crustaceans for sale. Very unique and unusual. Helmet Diving In Hundred Islands, suggested by two Canadian tourists we met at Governor’s Island, turned out to be the highlight of this trip. For p1300, it included the equipment for two of us, a super quick safety briefing, the 15-minute dive, complete with an energetic photo/videographer, and a 32 gigabit memory chip of our experience 5 meters below the ocean floor in clear, comfortable water. Among the sights were tropical fish, and the highlight was the Tridacna gigas, also known as the giant sea clams. We were allowed to touch and feel them as they closed on our hands. A moment that left us awed for the longest time, especially Kristina. We hired our boat around 10:30 AM and finished at about 4:00 PM.
