Soul legend Lee Fields takes to the Brooklyn stage to bring his special James Brown-esque version of funk, soul, and even a bit of train to an eagerly awaiting crowd. The ability to play for an hour and a half is rare for any 71 year old. That Mr. Elmer Lee Fields can not only sing, but dance around stage and look that good for a complete performance is astonishing. Looking like a man decades younger than he is, shuffling, bopping, and bouncing into the hearts of his fans. If Lee wasn't the oldest person in attendance he was sure close. While it doesn't appear necessary for him to slow down anytime soon, it is hard to predict how much longer such a great can perform. If you have an opportunity to catch Lee Fields & The Expressions do so while you can. NYC Native who grew up coming in on the train to misspend my youth bouncing along the streets of the LES and West village, outside of clubs and venues I couldn’t get into. Following stints in New Orleans and Washington DC I have been back diving headlong into the New York City concert scene for nearly a decade. The Brooklyn Humanist YouTube channel has been created so I can share videos of the incredible unique experiences of the New York City live music scene. NYC nightlife is renown. New York is one of the top places in the world for live events, and my goal is for The Brooklyn Humanist to be one of the top places on the web for you to experience what New York has to offer. Whether you are transplant to the city planning your next weekend outing, a soon to be tourist, a lifelong NYer, or just living vicariously in a city you recently left or have never been the videos on Brooklyn Humanist aim to convey the electricity at the core of NYC. I hope the concerts, biking, and randomness of NYC fills you with love for this fine metropolis.
