Nantahala Cascades at 450cfs Class 5 Whitewater Kayaking Using Hi-N-Dry Rolling Aid

In this video, I take on the Nantahala Cascades which is a solid class 5 run. It is my first true class 5 run and I think it is a good intro to true class 5 because it is roadside, which makes scouting or bailing out easy, there is a lot of class 5 rescuers lining the river who could come to aid in a pin or some other disaster, there is park service personnel with access to rescue teams a phone call away who are stationed at the putin, and there are countless people doing laps on it over and over all day. Granted, it would have been better to run it first at a lower water level perhaps, however, I'm told the holes are less sticky at the higher water level anyways so water level preference is arguable. In some ways it was harder at the higher water level and in others it was easier. I did have a group of paddling partners lined up to join me but all canceled last minute so I joined paddlers who were already there which is always a last minute option rather than drive home wasting 16 hours round trip of driving for nothing... In the end, it was a sloppy run, but I think I did well overall and the sloppiness was not due to lack of capability as a paddler but moreso lack of familiarity with the lines. I am proud of this video and what I achieved that day. I stand by my decision to run it and do think I was ready for it which is contrary to some other's opinions who I have talked to. I felt inside that I am ready 100% and was 100% confident in myself and my decision. I stayed calm and never panicked and performed well under pressure. It was a big win for me.
