Here I decode a Brinks (model 162-49005) dial combination padlock. You can try this method to unlock your padlock if you've lost your combination. Note that this lock can't be shimmed open - I've tried! I've done quite a few dial combo locks so for this one I skimmed over some of the details. See some of my earlier videos for more details, eg my Master Lock playlist: • Master Lock dial combination padlocks The 3rd number should be easy to find (when applying tension), but the 1st number may not be so easy (as seen in the video). In the video, after finding the 1st number, I try every 2nd "second" number (no tension on the shackle for this bit) and then back to the 3rd number to see if it opens (by pulling up on the shackle). It's important to turn it several times to the right (clockwise) to "reset" the inner wheels. If you can't find the 1st number then you might have to try every second 1st number, but you have to "reset" the inner wheels before testing every 1st number (reset = turn several full turns clockwise). So what I mean is, if you found your 3rd number as 15 (you one will likely be different), then you'd do: "reset" 0 - 0 - 15 (try to open) 0 - 2 - 15 (try to open) 0 - 4 - 15 (try to open) 0 - 6 - 15 (try to open) ... etc all the way to: 0 - 38 - 15 ... then: "reset" 2 - 0 - 15 (try to open) 2 - 2 - 15 (try to open) 2 - 4 - 15 (try to open) 2 - 6 - 15 (try to open) ... etc all the way to: 2 - 0 - 15 ... etc etc. Remember if we're testing "X - Y - Z" then we "reset" (several full clockwise turns), and then we keep turning clockwise until we get to X, then one full turn anti-clockwise past X and keep going to Y, then turn clockwise until we get to Z. So when when we test "0 - 0 - 15" above, we'd do (we've already done the "reset"): ...keep turning clockwise until we get to 0, then one full turn anti-clockwise to past 0 and keep going to 2, then turn clockwise until we get to 15 (and then pull up on the shackle to see if it opens). We don't need to "reset" before testing each 2nd number (ie from there testing 0 - 4 - 15, then 0 - 5 - 15), but we do have to reset when changing the 1st number (ie when we've finished with all the "0" first numbers and we want to test "2" first numbers then we'd "reset" first).
