Records 2024. www.oaprecords.com The band Four Others consists of four musicians who met in their first year of study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in 1991. They performed at that time in Belgium at various locations on the Belgian boulevard of Blankenberg during a two-day vacation together. The click between the musicians and friendship was there from the first moment. The band, consisting of: Jacco Griekspoor (vibraphone), Andy Valkenburg (double bass), Vincent Koning (guitar) and Barry Olthof (drums) is anno 2024 a revival of the then existing band. They are assisted by trombonist Bert Boeren, well known from the Dutch Swing College band. Bert Boeren has played with Scott Hamilton, Warren Vaché, Clark Terry, Peter Appleyard, Arnett Cobb, Ferdinand Povel, Bill Reichenbach, Mark Nightingale, Toots Tielemans, Benny Golson, Chick Corea, Satoru Oda, Joe Lovano, Peanuts Hucko, Gregory Porter and Urbie Green, among others. Five prestigious awards have constituted his international accolades to date: the Export Award, the Bird Award - both with the DSC, the Peter Schilperoort Award, the Femø Jazzpris (DK) and the Kobe-Jazzstreet Award in Japan.
