300 women are involved in a class action suit against the manufacturers of TVT mesh implants in the hope of receiving some form of compensation for their subsequent complications. The Johnson & Johnson product was commonly used to repair prolapses and incontinence until it was withdrawn in 2012 following a number of issues. Some implants were found to erode after being placed in the body, invade nearby organs and sometimes contract, causing a great deal of pain to the sufferer. A similar case in the US earlier in the year saw a number of affected women being awarded $11.1 million in compensation.
