1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Sound in action on a Swiss Mountain Pass!

During the 2021 Bernina Gran Turismo, an event born in 2014 with the aim of keep the memory of the legendary Bernina Pass hillclimb race of 1929 and 1930 alive, I recorded this great sounding Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA from 1965 being driven up the hillclimb course. Unveiled in 1963, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT becomes the glorious GTA in 1965. The addition of the "A", which stands for ''Alleggerita'' (Lightened), was due to a weight reduction the new Giulia was subjected. Part of the steel sheets were replaced with lighter aluminum, as well as the rear side windows and the back window that became plexiglass. The interior was also stripped of the superfluous stuffs meaning the 900+ kg of the Sprint GT dropped to 745 kg on the road-going Sprint GTA. The 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine was improved and it was able to produce 115 hp at 6,000 rpm. The Giulia Sprint GTA was built mainly to obtain the Group 2 homologation and of the only 500 road-legal examples produced very few remain in their original conditions.
