Tropical plants don’t fail because they’re fragile — they fail when we put them in the wrong place. I picked up these elephant ears in California and once I got them home, I realized they weren’t all the same type. These darker varieties don’t love sun or wind, so instead of forcing them, I planted them here in shade where they can actually thrive. In this video, I show the process from start to finish — potting, placement, and why mulch and shade make such a difference. I may add more plants later to build out the microclimate, but with this much leaf mass, these elephant ears should do just fine on their own. This is all part of learning what really works — not just what looks good at the nursery. Follow along as the story grows. See you soon!
