The latest episode of Hawai‘i Sports 2Night features a conversation with one of the leaders of the Hawai‘i Rainbow Warriors football program as the team turns its attention toward the 2026 season. Host Rob DeMello sits down with senior defensive back Elijah Palmer to discuss spring training camp, leadership within the locker room and the momentum built from last season’s breakthrough campaign. The episode is available every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app, which can be streamed on Apple TV, Roku and Firestick. Episodes are also available on demand after airing, with a television rebroadcast at 10:35 p.m. Mondays on KHON2. Although Palmer was unable to participate fully in drills due to injury, the senior remained heavily involved throughout the five-week spring training period. Instead of taking reps on the field, he took on more of a mentor-style role — offering guidance to younger players and helping reinforce the team’s culture. During the conversation, Palmer shares what he observed from the sideline and how the program began laying the foundation for the upcoming season. The discussion also explores the primary goals of spring camp, including bringing new players up to speed, helping younger athletes grow into expanded roles and emphasizing fundamentals. Palmer has emerged as one of the vocal leaders of the Rainbow Warriors, often delivering the final message to teammates before practice begins — a responsibility that reflects the trust he has earned within the program. In the interview, he reflects on whether leadership always came naturally to him or if it was something that developed during his time in Mānoa. The conversation also revisits Hawai‘i’s memorable 2025 campaign. After posting five wins in each of Palmer’s first two seasons with the program, the Rainbow Warriors broke through with a 9–4 record and a victory in the Hawai‘i Bowl, defeating California on Christmas Eve. Palmer discusses what it meant to be part of a turnaround season for the program while also acknowledging the team’s focus on building toward the future. The senior defensive back also reflects on his own strong season in 2025. Palmer earned honorable mention All-Mountain West honors after leading the team and ranking second in the conference with 10 pass breakups. He also recorded two interceptions, including a memorable pick-six against San Diego State. In the episode, Palmer walks through that play and the moment it finally came together on the field. The full interview is available in the latest episode of Hawai‘i Sports 2Night, streaming Sundays at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app and rebroadcast Mondays at 10:35 p.m. on KHON2.
