Another sad day for Aviation as the last Virgin Atlantic 747-400 departs Manchester for the final time heading to Tel Aviv. On a personal level this exact aircraft G-VXLG named "Ruby Tuesday" was infact the first ever Jumbo I flew on and was the aircraft that took me on my first longhaul flight to Barbados back in 2006. Couldn't miss the opportunity to say a final goodbye and see her off. The aircraft was escorted by a Follow Me vehicle down the taxiway in front of the Aviation Viewing Park to allow for some final pictures of the iconic Jumbo before being lead onto the runway and back on itself for a departure from RWY23R. As she climbs away in the grey wintery sky just before hitting the cloud base the 747 performs a wing wave. Just as I stopped recording ATC said it had been an honour to serve them and wished the pilots at Virgin the very best in the future. Quite a humbling send off for the last Virgin jumbo at Manchester. Check out the full video taken at Manchester this day, including the return of Emirates A380's back in service. Thanks for watching!
