The Single Row Marquee Tool in Photoshop - HigherLearningLab.com The Single Row Marquee Tool is one of the basic Photoshop selection tools. Using this tool you can select a single, 1 pixel high row across the entire composition. In this video you walk you through all the options you have when using this Photoshop selection tool. Inside of Photoshop, find the Rectangular Marquee Tool icon (a dashed square) in the tool bar. Click and hold on that icon and a flyout menu will appear. Hover over that Single Row Marquee Tool in this menu and let go of your mouse or trackpad button to select it. Now that you have it selected you can click anywhere on your image to select a single row of pixels. You have some options to refine your selection You can also use the Add Selection icon to keep on adding rows to your selection each time you click somewhere with the magic wand tool. You can use the Subtract Selection icon to remove rows. You can use the Intersection icon to select only the areas where two selections intersect. This would only appear if you are combining the Single Row Marquee Tool's selection with other selection tools. You can also "feather" your selection which means soften the edges. So instead of selecting just one row of pixels, if you increase the "feather" setting you will be selection more rows of pixels. That's all there is to it. I hope this information helps you!
