Okay WHAT ABOUT .... a bossa nova group? But if that were to happen, this is what I imagine them to be. Lucifer - Model F Organ, SQ80 Justice - Korg 800, Rhodes EP Judgement - Drums Beelzebub - Mellotron, Rhodes EP Malina, Zdrada, Cerberus - Percussion Mix Engineer - probably Helltaker himself and the whole band. Mastering Engineer - probably Helltaker and Lucifer. Production Notes... YEAH: Apropos. This was a nice project to work on. I had no idea how to do it since I thought to myself I already started Titanium and Epitomize so why not do ALL the Helltaker OSTs? Well... let's do that then!?? It was supposed to sound more synthpop-indie-esque but that wasn't working. SO JUST USE SOME BOSSA NOVA YEA!? I started with the main riff of Apropos and thought to myself, 'How far can I mend and bend this motiff and will it sill be recognizable?' Experimentation here and there lead me to the very cool mellow sounding Rhodes EP. Introducing percussion instruments into the mix gave it a very nice groove and so much excitement despite being a very slow song. I needed to ditch the bpm of Apropos into a more.. slooooow and groovy vibe. Another aesthetic decision was the mellotron and the organ. They usually have the vibe of being.. well mellow and cool sounding. But I managed to give it a very weird vibe that I kind of jive with. Layered all together with a Korg 800, I got the vibe of a indie synthpop band. The EP and Drum duo (02:53) was very fun to make. I finally distorted and mangled the identity motiff of Apropos and it resulted into this weird exploration of tone. I was really inspired by The Doors's Riders of the Storm which is why i used a Rhodes emulator for the "bass" that you hear. It needed some coloration thus I placed it through some preamp simulators and got the color I needed that it won't be lost into the mix or sound too "subby". The percussion groove in my opinion gives the whole groove a sense of forward momentum to keep the listening going. Overall I hope you enjoyed this synthpop, bossa nova fusion cover on Apropos Also more rambling. "Jazz? Jazz. Yes Jazz" "Judgement listening to bossa nova? While eating some pancakes? Yes!" "I didn't want to use too much of the room mics since they made the drums sound too big. Instead I only used them when the drums were on the interlude for dramatic effect." "jazz jazz JAAAZZZ I NEED MORE JAZZ" "Charles Mingus got that vibe too." "Justice, Lucifer, Judgement and Beelzebub in a brass band at a bar midnight" "Helltaker and Lucifer slow dancing? HMMMMMMMMMMMMM??" "The Demonettes would be their group name if they were a 50s jazz group" "Okay okay.. Judgement in a suit? or Judgement in a dress?... OH what about Justice in a suit? or Justice in a dress... what about everyone of them in them fancy clad outfits?" "A jazz session between Justice and the man the myth the legend himself, Miles Davis" "Whatabout a session between Demonkraft and Herbie Hancock? That's gonna be some nice jazz fusion vibes."
