This majestic music by Dr. St. Clair is an outpouring of thanks and boundless praise to God the Father, in this traditional Christian prayer. The music moves steadily ahead building energy to a big conclusion over a 20+-minute great arc. The original prayer in Latin, "Te Deum" (Thou, God) Laudamus (we praise thee). Here is the full text: Thou God, We praise Thee. Thou Lord, We confess Thee. Yea, Thou art the eternal Father: All the earth worships Thee. To Thee all the angels, to Thee the heavens and all powers, To Thee the cherubim and seraphim with unceasing voice cry out: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts, Full are the heavens and earth of the majesty of Thy Glory. The glorious chorus of the apostles, the praiseworthy company of the prophets; the white-robed army of the martyrs praise Thee. Through the whole world the holy Church confesses Thee: Father of immense majesty; Your Son, true, unique, worthy of worship; as well as the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete. Thou art King of Glory, Christ. Thou art the Son of the eternal Father. When Thou were about to take it upon Thyself to liberate man, Thou didst not abhor the Virgin’s womb. Thou, when the sting of death was conquered, opened the kingdom of heaven to believers. Thou sittest at the right hand of God, in the glory of the Father. As judge Thou art believed to be coming. Therefore we ask Thee, come to the aid of Thy servants, whom with Thy precious blood Thou hast redeemed. Make us to be numbered with Thy saints in eternal glory. O, make Thy people to be saved, Lord, and bless Thine inheritance. And rule us, and raise us up to eternity. Through each day we praise Thee. And we praise Thy name into the age, and the age of the age. Condescend, Lord, for this day to keep us without sin. O, have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us. Let Thy mercy, Lord, be over us, just as we have hopèd in Thee. In Thee, O Lord, I have hopèd: Let me not be confounded into eternity. Amen.
