#LargestLibrary #villagereelsbyabrar #pakvillageinsider MASOOD JHANDIR RESEARCH LIBRARY (The Largest Private Library of Pakistan) Salient Features and Services Mian Masood Ahmad, Mahmood Ahmad and Ghulam Ahmad inherited a few hundred books from their father Mian Sardar Muhammad Jhandir. They made substantial growth in number of books from 1960's onward. Qasba Sardar pur jhandir was founded in 1963 and named after Mian Sardar Muhammad ( 1887-1952 ) & the library named after eldest son Mian Masood Ahmad. In 2017, the library contains 2,61,000 books, 1,62,000 periodicals, 4,050 manuscripts 1,152 manuscripts copies of the holy Quran. Hundreds of research scholars from Pakistan and abroad visit library annually and they are directed to bring with them a digital camera of more than 6 mega pixel capacity. Services in the field of research are being highlighted by national and international print and electronic media. It is place of visit for intellectuals, schools, colleges, universities, classes and faculties, literary and other dignitaries. The Library complex was completed in 2007, it is built on 21000sq.ft. Covered area with the 44x22ft. 8 halls, auditorium, committee rooms, hostel etc. It is surrounded by a 5 acre park. Iran Pak Institute of Persian studies sponsored and completed in 10 months a post doctoral research work to catalogue manuscripts of the library. In International library conference 2013 held in the Punjab University Lahore, a Ph.D scholar presented a thesis on this library. Life achievement award was awarded by South Asians Libraries' Conference 2016 held in LUMS Lahore. President's National Civil Award "Tamgha-e-Imtiaz" was conferred in 2014 on Mian Ghulam Ahmad, a sponsor of the library for the... Collection and Preservation of National Heritage. The Library is situated on Mailsi-Dunyapur road ( via Ashraf Shah ). It is 85 and 70kms away from Multan and Bahawalpur respectively. It is 8kms away on a carpet road from Adda Arewahn/Mailsi-Kehror Pakka road.
