Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant is nuts for the new Night Fighter AR-15 Handguard from Midwest Industries, partly because of the extra-sturdy barrel nut that comes with it. Much heftier than the typical free-float handguard nut, this barrel nut provides an extremely secure foundation that prevents the Night Fighter from flexing. The point of impact of an optic, laser sight, or backup sight mounted on the Night Fighter will not shift, even when you're bracing the handguard on a bench, barrier, or other support. The handguard itself is lightweight, yet rock solid. Midwest strategically removed metal to reduce weight without messing up the Night Fighter's rigidity. It's easy to mount the Night Fighter on your AR-15, and an anti-rotation tab prevents you from accidentally torquing it out of alignment.
