COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: WHITE FRAGILITY

Recorded June 30, 2020 The Board of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion invited white students, staff and faculty to have a conversation centered on Robin DiAngelo’s concept of white fragility. White fragility is the “discomfort and defensiveness on the part of a white person when confronted by information about racial inequality and injustice.” We will discuss how the system of racism shapes our lives, how we uphold that system and how we might interrupt it. We asked participants read Robin DiAngelo’s book, White Fragility, or read the linked paper published in the International Journal of Critical Pedagogy on the topic.
