In today’s video, we’re headed into the woods of North Eastern Virginia to find Barred Owls and to go over my tips for finding owls in the wild. I’ve spent three years finding a formula to use to be able to utilize my time wisely and create a path of least resistance when it comes to locating owls. So, I drove three hours north and with some help from friends I found a barred owl. After spending a day with him I felt like I could finally put together a video bringing you my best tips learned over the past three years of research, trial and error and hiking about the wilderness when it comes to finding owls. Keep in mind that depending on the owl, it’s location, population and other factors your results may vary. For example, here in Virginia owls are much harder to find than the Pacific Northwest. What I discovered the hard way was, you can’t simply just wander the woods every time in hopes of spotting one of these elusive animals. They’re made to stay hidden. So, I’ll be giving you my best ways to research them online to include apps, groups and local wildlife websites as well as the best spotting tips I have to offer. The most important thing to remember though is the birding code of ethics. For a full breakdown of those ethics you can click here; https://www.massaudubon.org/get-outdo...
