The refrain “da doo ron ron” came from nonsense syllables stuck in as temporary filler by songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. Phil Spector, however, thought the phrase was simple enough to not get in the way of the song’s simple boy-meets-girl story line and kept it in. The Crystals will sing their new single “Little Boy” when they appear as the musical guest next week. It will be their only appearance on the show.
