In a very scintillating and titillating revelation, the federal government has fingered Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State in a $9.7 million terrorism financing case involving the state’s Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and three others. On Wednesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned three suspects who were acting as fronts for the Bauchi governor before a federal high court in Abuja. The EFCC report via Daily Trust Newspaper suggest that these suspects, at the direction of Gov Bala Mohammed, between January and May 2024 gave $2.3m to Bello Badejo, the leader of Miyetti Allah. The EFCC further alleged that $500,000 and $6.9m were delivered in cash, exchanged via a BDC operator, to Bello Bodejo. It is assumed that these monies were taken from monthly allocations for Bauchi state and are being directed towards terrorism instead of the development of Bauchi State.
