Building a pedal drive on a paddle board ! Tretboot

Welcome to our big do-it-yourself summer project 2023. We want to upgrade a SUP (StandUpPaddle) to be able to ride like a pedal boat. The project has kept us busy for a few weeks, but we have succeeded. Something great has come out of it! See for yourself! The basic frame is made of screwed aluminium profiles, the parts in orange were made using a 3D printer. It is driven by a toothed belt. The seat is a discarded chair. The drive was actually a challenge. The toothed belt has to be very tight so that it doesn't slip. The connection between the gear and the drive shaft was also problematic. Originally we thought that the printed parts would be the first to give way to the water force, but in fact it is the threaded rods. We had placed the steering in the middle during the first attempt. This caused the SUP to ride at an angle but not steer. Rookie mistake. The entire SUP with drive can be assembled in 20 minutes. The wings and steering can be removed, the rest fits in the trunc. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot too! Enjoy the video !
