This video is for how to sew the “My Rag Doll” pattern by Corinne Crasbercu, from the book of the same name. I made this video because I do love this design, but the pattern has very little instruction, and a few of those instructions are exceedingly unclear. There used to be a good video explaining some of the trickier parts of it, but it has since been taken down by its creators. I do not know where you can get the pattern, so you’re on your own there. NOTES: -I didn’t include a seam allowance because I was making two dolls from this pattern, and they were differing body sizes, so I was going to have to change the seam allowance for each one anyway. I did a ¼” seam for the one pictured at the end of the video (I used a ½” on the other one I made while making this one). The original pattern notes that you need to add a ½” seam allowance to the printed pattern. -I also modified the pattern pieces to make the arms and legs longer for one of the two dolls so that it would be taller. -Pick a better fabric than I use! I tend to use canvas for stuff (I made these dolls out of fabric scraps I had), and it frays wildly. Cotton is much better. I used Jersey knit for the very first one I made, and the issues were that the stretch in the fabric made the doll look lumpy when stuffed (I had to adjust the batting so, so much), and it also pilled badly with wear and tear. If you are going to use something like canvas that frays, use a zig-zag stitch like I did. -While this is considered a very advanced pattern, I made it the first time as a determined beginner, and it was mostly successful! Take your time, and learn to work with any imperfections that may result! -You’re going to need a lint roller. Doubly so if you have cats, like I do. -I see the typo. I’m too tired to go back and fix it now.
