Episode 31 In this episode we finish part 2, the case for and against the sons of God in Genesis 6 being angels. We finished answering Reason 12, namely, that the New Testament makes it clear that the Sons of God were angels. We looked at two passages, 2 Peter 2:2-4 and Jude 6,7. We found that the arguments put forward for the angelic view were not at all convincing. We then looked at Reason 13, The angels were judged later for their sins. Again, the answers given find no basis in Scripture. Finally, Reason 14, All other views have many problems. This reason basically says the angelic view should win by default because of problems found with views that assume that the Sons of God were humans. However, as we explained, there are at least two theories of the identity of the Sons of God that are consistent with the overall teaching of Genesis and the rest of the Scripture. After looking at the 14 Reasons given for the angelic view, our conclusion on this matter is that the evidence presented does not make the case for this position. Even more to the point, our next section, part 3, will deal with 3 general problems with the angel view, as well as 20 specific problems with it.
