A man who was imprisoned based on evidence provided by a corrupt police officer has had his name cleared posthumously by the Court of Appeal. Errol Campbell, who passed away in 2004, had his convictions for theft and conspiracy to steal from a goods depot in south London overturned at the London court on Thursday. Campbell was originally found guilty in April 1977 and sentenced to 18 months in prison at the Old Bailey, following thefts from the Bricklayers Arms Goods Depot, where he worked as a British Rail employee. The prosecution against him was led by DS Derek Ridgewell, a now-discredited officer with British Transport Police.
