This week on Walks Up Wednesday, I’m recapping a couple moments that made this an electric time to be walking in the Bay Area. First up, the Five Minute Walk through the Castro District in San Francisco. I stepped onto Castro Street just before all the buzz around the newly reopened Castro Theatre. That legendary marquee glowing again, the history in the walls, and yes, the Sam Smith residency kicking off in a space that has meant so much to the LGBTQ+ community for decades. Pride flags lining the street like a permanent celebration. That walk was about honoring the past while catching the neighborhood in a new chapter. Then we head down to San Jose, where downtown was buzzing as Santa Clara hosted Super Bowl LX. San Pedro Square turned festive, Seahawk fans everywhere, and the Jester absolutely loving it. It is not every day your region hosts the Super Bowl and your team’s fans show up strong. It felt like a party in the air, restaurants full, streets alive, and the Bay Area showing off on a national stage. Exciting time to be walking. Exciting time to be a Seahawks fan. I also announced something I am genuinely fired up about. The Jester is walking in the San Marcos Airport 5K Runway Run. A literal runway. Planes, pavement, and pace. You know I love aviation and walking, so this one feels perfectly on brand. As always, I took a moment to say thank you. The comments, the likes, the encouragement. Casey the Jester sees it.
