If you're interested in seeing how the ruins of any place may be lovely, you should go to Chhatedi in Bhuj. Close to Hamirsar Lake, Chhatedi is a historical heritage site, well-known for its architectural grade. The structures here are almost 400 years old, and ASI has designated the area as a historical landmark. Chhatedi emanates from the Gujarati word Chhatri, which means umbrella. The umbrella shape of all the roofs of these structures' is why this location is known as Chhatedi. Unfortunately, the earthquake of 2001 wrecked a large portion of it. Many people believe that this was once the site of Maharajas of Kutch's funerals, however, it is not. The Royal dynasty of Bhuj has a Samadhi Sthal here. The land was used for the cremation of kings and their family members, and subsequently, an exquisite Chatri was placed over their Samadhi.
